Summary of service

Women’s Health Information and Referral Service CQ Inc. (WHIRSCQ) aims to enhance people’s quality of life by providing a holistic service, contributing to the empowerment of individuals and improving the health and well-being of all women and their families throughout Central Queensland. WHIRSCQ works from a feminist perspective that values gender equality, acknowledges cultural diversity and provides a person-centred service delivery model. WHIRSCQ encompasses strength-based philosophies through open, honest and transparent therapeutic sessions with clients.

WHIRSCQ provide Free and confidential counselling and support in a safe, supportive, non-judgmental and non-discriminatory environment. This service can be accessed face-to-face, by phone or video counselling.

Programs and initiatives

General Counselling and Support:

  • Women 14 years and over
  • Any issue affecting the well-being of the client
  • Historical domestic and family violence
  • Information and Referral

Sexual Assault Counselling & Support:

  • Women, men & youth 12 years and over
  • Recent or historical sexual assault

Dignity Hub:

  • Other supports include assisting women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by providing shower and laundry facilities and where possible, basic clothing, sanitary items, and a meal.
